So, how many of you have thought to yourself (or even out loud to someone else), "I'm not going to exercise today because....(insert excuse-du-jour here)" and then, it gets even harder to get out the next day, and so on and so on? Yeah, I know. All of us have done it at one time or another (or maybe many times) but here is where we help you break out of that vicious cycle! It's called "The Excuse Smackdown". Give us an excuse and we'll help convince you that its not valid and that you really need to get out and get moving.
Here's an example:
"I can't exercise because I don't have childcare."
Seemingly valid excuse, but really, no. You can head to a gym with childcare (around here, both the Bangor Y and Gold's Gym offer childcare), or beg a friend to watch your precious little bundle(s) for a half hour while you move like crazy to pack in a quick workout. You could pack the kiddo(s) in a stroller and go for a brisk walk or easy jog - pushing around and extra 30+lbs is a fab workout! If the weather is bad, you could always do a toddler dance party with your favorite tunes. Definitely throw in some toddler curls (you doing bicep curls using your little one as a weight!) and squats and voila, body by baby transformed by body by toddler!
Ok, so we can deal with that excuse, but others too? You betcha! (although I suppose that should be Ayuh, since we're here in Maine) Here's another example:
"I don't have time with my busy schedule"
We all have busy schedules sure and some days it really is tough to find the time for a workout, but honestly, every day? Plus, you don't need to carve out that much extra time. You'd be amazed at what 1/2 hour, 3 days a week will do. That's a total of 1 1/2hrs - maybe get up a half an hour earlier a few times a week, or spend a half hour going for a walk or run during your lunch break or in the evening. Plan it out so you're prepared and it's worked into your schedule. You can do it!
So, hit us with your best excuses, and we'll help you conquer them and get moving!
