Getting Started...

Ok, so you've read some inspirational stories, and you're ready to get moving! But, where to start?

While we aren't running and fitness experts, you're lucky because there are alot of people out there who are! Some of our favorites include Hal Higdon, Jeff Galloway and the folks at Runner's World. These guys have training programs for people who have never run before to pretty serious runners, and everywhere in between. So, the next question is, what is your goal? To just start running, to do a 5k, to do a half or full marathon? There's a plan for that, and probably an app too :)

To get started running, you could try one of these:
  • Hal Higdon has some great advice for beginning runners, and a month-long plan to get you started and ready for a 5k training plan.
  • Jeff Galloway also gives some great advice on getting started with a 5-step program you can follow and advance through at your own pace.
  •  Runner's World has an 8 week program to get you up to running 2 miles non-stop.
  • The guys at Cool Running developed the now famous Couch to 5k training program, which is designed to do just that - get you from your couch to running 3 miles in 9 short weeks.
Whichever plan you choose to follow, Runner's World has some great advice:
Don't be intimidated by these programs. The first 2 miles are the hardest 2 miles you will ever run. Once you have reached this level of fitness, it's relatively easy to do more.
It really is so true! (I can personally attest to that one!) Now, give it a try and let's get moving!

Before you hit the streets or the treadmill, tell us your goal. We want to hear from you!
