On the Run in June

via
Wowzers- June is upon us already!  That means it's time to get your calendars filled up with all kinds of fun summer activities, including some road races!  Here are just a few to choose from in the Bangor area:

On Sat June 9th, it's time for the Bangor Y Milk Mile!  Registration begins at 8am and the race begins 9am at the Fireside Inn, Main Street in Bangor and ends in Gomez Park. The new route runs down Dunton Street and along the waterfront paths, ending just past the Sea Dog in Gomez Park. Register online here.   Be sure to stick around for the awards ceremony as there will be lots of door prizes!

If you're up for a little more, you can also head on down to Bar Harbor for the beautiful MDI YMCA Spring 10k and 1 mile fun run on June 9th.  The 10k course starts and finishes at the MDI YMCA and travels through part of Acadia National Park's famous Park Loop Road. Services to runners include mile markers, 1-mile splits, a water station at the halfway mark and refreshments and water at the finish.   Packet pick-up and race day registration are available from 9:00am-9:45am. The race starts at 10:00am. Shirts are given to the first 50 entrants.

The East-West Trail Run at the Bangor City Forest has been rescheduled for Saturday June 16.  The race will start at the Kittredge Rd entrance with registration at 8am, walkers starting at 8:30am and runners starting at 9am.

What better way to celebrate Father's Day than by running the 36th annual Hampden 8.5 mile road race, now with a 1 Mile Fun Run as well!  Both races start at the Weatherbee School on Main Rd in Hampden, with the 8.5 miler starting at 8:30am and the 1 mile run starting at 10:45am.

Round out the month with the 37th Annual Tour du Lac in Bucksport.  Race registration starts at 6:30 at the Bucksport Town Pool.  Walkers are encouraged to start at 7am and runners will start at 7:30am.  The cost of the race is only $13.00 and there are awards for age group winners.
