Some New Tunes

It's that time of the year again! Time to update my playlist! It's a new year and time for some new tunes to to keep me motivated and going on the runs ahead of me this year. I put the call out last year and got some great suggestions and hope to be able to do the same this year :)

I know that there are different camps when it comes to the idea of listening to music while you run.  I can appreciate both sides of the argument and try to find the middle ground (and stay safe) by keeping the volume very low so that I can hear what's going on around me or just wearing one ear bud and leaving the other ear available to listen for cars, other runners, etc.  On the plus side, scientific studies have shown that music helps you workout for longer and have more fun while you're doing it!  So, honestly, it is worth it to me!

I'm definitely partial to pop/dance type stuff but am open to hearing about any kind of music that energizes you and makes you want to run, faster!  But, I can't just ask what you're listening to without sharing my own choices so here, in no particular order, is my current playlist:

This isn't actually me (thanks FitSugar)
Brokenhearted - Karmin
California Gurls (feat. Snoop Dogg) - Katy Perry
Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen
Die Young - Ke$ha
Everybody Talks - Neon Trees
Forever  - Chris Brown (still love this)
Give Me Everything - Pitbull
Glad You Came - The Wanted
I Like How It Feels - Enrique Iglesias
I Like It Like That - Hot Chelle Rae
I Love It (feat. Charli XCX) - Icona Pop
I Will Wait - Mumford & Sons (banjos!)
Kondaine - The Very Best & Seye (found this one here)
Let's Go (Radio Edit) [feat. Ne-Yo]  - Calvin Harris feat. Ne-Yo
Live Like We're Gonna Die Young (One Direction x Kesha) No Pets Allowed (this one is free!)
Live While We're Young - One Direction
Locked Out Of Heaven - Bruno Mars
One Thing - One Direction
PopLove  (2012) - Robin Skouteris (a great, free mashup of all kinds of pop treats from this year - not to worry, the Biebs is hiding here)
Sexy And I Know It - Lmfao
Some Nights (Explicit)  - Fun.
Starships - Nicki Minaj
TiK ToK - Ke$ha (not for the kiddos)
Tonight Is The Night - Outasight
We Are Young (feat. Janelle MonĂ¡e) - Fun.
What Makes You Beautiful - One Direction
Whistle - Flo Rida (ok, maybe not the most family-friendly song but it has a good tune)

There you have it - embarrassing I'm-a-40-yr-old-13-yr-old-girl songs and all.  But, they get me moving and keep me running! So, what tunes get you moving and keep you going? What are your favorite go-to running songs?  What are YOU listening to right now? I'd love to hear some suggestions!!
